Introduction
The maps illustrate the development of a small town over a 30-year period from 1990 to 2020.
Overview
Overall, the town underwent significant urbanization, with an increase in residential areas, commercial facilities, and transportation infrastructure. The northern part saw the most development, while green spaces decreased.
Details
In 1990, the town center consisted mainly of residential housing and a small market. By 2020, the market was replaced by a shopping mall, and additional housing was constructed in the southwest.
The northern area, which was previously farmland, was converted into an industrial zone. A new railway line and station were added to the east, connecting the industrial area to the town center.
While the southern park remained intact, the riverbank was developed into a recreational area with cafes and walking trails.
Maps require careful observation, structured writing, and precise vocabulary. By mastering these skills, students will confidently tackle any map task in IELTS Writing Task 1 Academic. With consistent practice and feedback, you’ll be well-prepared to describe complex geographical data effectively.
